Look back on the second EUROCOURSE
The second ARCHER EUROCOURSE, hosted by NRG, was held in Petten from 19-20 January 2015. The course content was dedicated to:
- possible application areas for an HTR (cogeneration)
- licensing aspect
- accident categories
- air and water ingress accidents
- passive decay heat removal
- fuel design and
- dust transport in the primary circuit
A group of 14 students and young engineers as well as 2 senior engineers participated. They came from Great Britain, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland and Ukraine. The course took place in a warm and relaxed atmosphere and the students took the opportunity to discuss intensively with the experts during lunch and coffee break.
As part of the course a poster contest was organised. Six posters were presented covering the students' work in the field of nuclear technology, especially High Temperature Reactors. As the students had to present their poster as the last topic of the course, the lecturers awarded the three best ones. The winner came from the AGH technical university of Krakow (Poland) and from the technical university of Prague (Czech Republic).
